For those of you that use Media Centre on Windows 7's edition that comes with Pro, this might interest you. Not sure if there is an equal version for Media Centre XP or Vista...

If your like me and have a Microsoft MCE remote ( or simular ) and like to watch TV/Movies/Music or your pics on your TV or large Monitor via your PC or media centre pc, I was pleased to find out about this yesterday. If your aware of this already sorry.

Basically, this add on/ Plug in, allows you to have Media Centre Style application thats built in to MCE Menus for all the BBC Iplayer programmes, so you can browse in the same way as the website.

Time to download - Under 2 mins ( there very very small programs/apps )
Time to install - 2 Mins ( litterally )
Time to find the bits there on about in this tutorial - 10 mins ( but I'll help you here... )

Have a read of this thread and I'll amend the important bits you need to do below it, once you have read it. The really important bit to read is the last post on the thread, once you have all the files.

So in a nutshell:

1, Download and Install BBC iPlayer Windows 7 Media Center Alpha 1.1 - http://www.mediafire.com/file/mmcwhzoii ... pha1.1.msi
( this is the iplayer app )

2, Install the Windows Media Security Component Upgrade from here - http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Ind ... ndivit.asp
( this is the upgrade to the security component - you might not need to do this, but I did it anyway )

3, Download and Install Media Center Studio http://www.adventmediacenter.com/
( this is the media centre menu editor )

4, In the "Media Centre Studio" program, Click Start Menu on the left hand side of the Media Center Studio, click the maximise button so you have the application open in full screen, and then in the left hand bottom corner click the entry points button ( trust me its down there - Its like a hidden bottom bar that comes up - IXL), you'll see an iPlayer icon.

5, Drag this up to the green plus sign next to extras library (I used the left one). Close Media Center Studio and save changes, open media player and iPlayer appears next to extras.

Job Done.

There should be no need to reboot, but if it fails, try a reboot but I didnt need to.

Hmm may give this a go myself.

I too have the MCE remote and use the media centre daily for TV viewing. Usually if I want to use iPlayer I just go to the browser.

I've used the Sky function of MC too which works ok apart from you have to re-enter your password everytime its started.

Just found this too:

http://plugins.tvcatchup.com/~mce/

I'll have to dig out my Media Centre Remote and sensor thing, it'll make TV watching far easier than using TVcatchup in the browser.
