Whatever the circumstances, you should see your router ip first... ( IE LAN - as per my previous posts pictures) :?

I dont know what else to suggest, Can you please turn off any firewalls you may have on...

Did you say you have a laptop? Can you install HLSW on that as well and try the same thing?

Sounds like its your router or some setting on it tbh... But its hard to say without seeing it, perhaps you have a port range block or some other setting on your router. I just dont understand why the hops are hidden. Do you have a usb DSL modem you can try direct?

Have you a mate nearby you can just plug your laptop or even PC in on their broadband and test it that way...?

just managed to get on server one, for a few rounds on train, but then went to tides and got the same problem. i seem to be having it on certain maps, and those maps have this:

Warning: using WorldTwoTextureBlend on a non-displacement surface.
Support for this will go away soon.
- Material : dev/dev_blendmeasure
- Surface center : -1239 -760 -32
Warning: using WorldTwoTextureBlend on a non-displacement surface (material: dev/dev_blendmeasure). Support for this will go away soon.
Warning: using WorldTwoTextureBlend on a non-displacement surface.
Support for this will go away soon.
- Material : dev/dev_blendmeasure2
- Surface center : -312 -1360 -104

can anyone shed any light on this message please, coz i think it has something to do with it.

People get these all the time, even me... they do tend to clear up.

Im still none the wiser what the cause is to your issue, even after the PM's.

Ive even made a temporary change to the server to see if that resolves some issues, which is has but that has had no effect on your problem.

Im not saying were done and dusted.. ( sorry no pun intended ) but atm, its illuding me.

Do you have any other steam games...? Do you have any issues with those?

cut ya losses, save all ya docs and format ya PC, start from scratch. will be done in a couple hours, quicker than going bacwards and forwards like this.

save ya maps etc but id let everything download form the server like new and just build up ya map and sound etc collection again from scratch

i was going to format my pc, but when i bought it it already had vista on it, and i didn't have any windows disks come with it. i had to make my own recovery disks, which i have(14 of them), and tried putting them in the drive and restarting, but it just restarted as normal. i read somewhere i need to disable cmor(or something) so the disk will run when the pc is turned on, but dont know where it is

you can make a recovery dvd cant you? why the hell have u got 14 discs!! u used cd's didnt u!

make a recovery DVD
restart ya pc
sometimes u will see an option to "select boot device press f9" or something liek that, if not do what jolteh said, if that doesnt work then we need to set your first boot device to your dvd drive in bios. we'll do that if u come to it.

what pc do u have, sometimes it comes with a recovery program installed? like HP. do you have a partition on your hgard drive called "recovery" or something?that would make life lot easier

Erm.. Just bear in mind he might not actually have a dvd drive...

Also, you can usually only create restore disks "ONCE". After which, you wont be able to re-create cd's/dvd's. ( thats with DELL/HP/Compaq and Advents anyway). You will be promted this fact when you try to do it again. Even if you do a restore and try to create disks again, it STILL tells you that its been done once and wont allow you to do it again.

Usually, you dont even need the CD's or DVD's to restore, you can do a partition restore, which is executed from a program by your manufacturer in the Start Programs option or from hitting a key listed in the post-BIOS screen. Select a "destructive" restore - Just make sure you backup any files you want to keep. A NON Destructive restore will restore your system to factory, but keep your documents intact - but I wouldnt trust it.

All this aside tho, doesnt explain to me why he cannot see his router ip in hlsw.

I still say, if its possible, to take the pc to someone elses house to test the connection there... or try another router.

reformatted now. going to try server 1.

IXL, i did a tracert at my mums house on her computer and she times out as well( we both use the orange livebox) so i think it is to do with the livebox itself that we cant trace hops.

I don't think this has anything to do with your problems. This is highlighting errors in the map. Most maps have an error or two in them. All its doing is not placing an object on thr map for some reason.

iirc my mate mat has this exact same problem with some of the maps, and we spent the better part of a year trying to sort it out lol, eventually giving up.. he can play on S2 but not S1
