turns out my mic was perfectly fine, just a fekkin windows update changed the security settings on my mic.

just in case you run into the same issue, settings-privacy-microphone. you can disable all apps but only "allow apps to access your microphone" needs to be enabled.

Funny i had some player feedback that my mic was noisy or generally a hum comin from it when i talk so was gonna put an end to the cheap piece of shit that is the realtek sound chip on the motherboard and get an external DAC / soundcard. Should also boost quality overall and remove interference/distortion. Or i might have to go for a headphone/mic combo that uses USB over analogue input as they usually come withtheir own drivers.
