120/144Hz Monitor!

I've recently bought a new screen (AOC G2460P) for the sole reason that it had a high refresh rate. It's a TN panel so the picture isn't as good as my older IPS one but when playing games like L4D2 last night, the difference is amazing. It was so super silky smooth the difference was night and day. I've gone from 50/60Hz to 144Hz and for games that can maintain that framerate its awesome. I only wish I'd got one ages ago, I can never go back now.

I was nearly tempted to get a G-Sync compatible panel but those are pricey. If you're in the market for a new screen I highly recommend getting one with a good amount of Hz!

What res? The amount of screens on the market now is mind boggling. I gave up and just bought a 1ms 1080p for simplicity but will upgrade when things get a bit cheaper.. at least get one above 60Hz.

Its 1080p, same as my old one. If I went any higher I'd probably need a new vid card to run it!

Hey jack how is this monitor working out for you now you've had it a while and how much did you pay for it? I see it's 200 quid pretty good value but am in the same line of thought, ie. whether or not go G-sync or not bother and just sit pretty on my shitty 60hz 1080p lcd.

I'd also be worried my gtx770 would not be able to power most games at 144fps, I struggle to get 60fps on heavily modded skyrim, admittedly most other games well over 100 frames so whether or not that would be overkill. BenQ make some good monitors too but they are pricey.

They don't make it anymore it's the XL2411Z version now which is over 200 quid but looks pretty decent also. I like benQ and I'm currently using a 21" atm. I think 24" 144hz will really take it up a notch as I get a shit load of screen tearing if I don't limit my frames and even still there's a bit of tear.

Yeah still loving this monitor, I think I paid around £200 from pc world. (I know, they suck)

I have a gtx780 and some newer games I can't hit 144fps. GTA runs between 60-80fps but I haven't noticed any tearing, you can set GTA to run at 144hz even if you don't get the same fps. I guess even if you don't get enough FPS the screen itself still refreshes itself much faster.

One thing you should double check if you do get one is the cable you need to get 144hz, my screen you only get that rate if you use display port cable which of course I had to get separately!

Does anyone have a gsync? I'm thinking of getting the 144hz gsync version of jack's monitor - AOC G2460pg... but I have no idea if it's worth going gsync... I just think that it will get more mileage out of my gtx770 graphics card and be smoother overall but don't know if anyone here can vouch for that.

There's only two other decent gsync 1080p monitors, benq and acer but these are more expensive, and the benq just has more inputs but is essentially same panel.

If anyone is after a good black friday deal, the viewsonic 144hz 24" model is on special £189 which is a bargain. I have been tracking this monitor for a good while and cheapest I ever seen is 180.

ViewSonic XG2401 Monitor

If anyone decides to go for it I wouldn't wait because the deal will deactivate after stock runs out.
