Hi there,
You're probably reading this because you:
a) are becoming a regular on the server
b) want to join OFc
c) are already a member and have forgotten what it's all about!
First, a bit of history...
OFc was founded back in 2003 by RampantRabbit, along with Fishy, Exibit, HighwayWarrior, Gunsmoke, TroubleInParadise and RolfHarris. It all started out with drunken evenings playing CS 1.6, on a PC Zone Server, generally having a laugh and winding eachother up, whilst maintaining an amount of discipline and teamwork (just)!
The clan soon began to grow quickly with more and more like-minded fools joining the party! In addition, we befriended a number of members from the SFc clan, which also grew in size. At this point, we decided to rent our own CSS Server which, due to the popularity of the clans, became an instant success, full every night with people struggling to get in.
Sadly at this point, the founder, RampantRabbit decided to pack his bags and slope off to NewZealand, avoiding the great British weather, but you'll see him poke his head (and fireman's outfit) in the forum and server from time-to-time.
Shortly after this, Exibit and a few other core OFc members decided to embark on the BF2 campaign, starting an OFc BF2 server. This too became a hit, and the BF2 side of the OFc clan began to grow as quickly as the CSS side.
Both servers were based over the same core values...People who enjoy gaming, people using good voice-comms and teamwork, and people who simply like a laugh...and most importantly, no t**ts allowed! Using these simple principles, the servers and clans have continued to attract a great many players.
Whilst all this was happening, the website and forum you find yourselves in today was created...A master piece with huge community spirit, we're sure you'll agree!
As the OFc and SFc clans grew on the CSS side, it became harder to maintain the equlibrium, so SFc have departed to create their own server, which is also a huge success.
In 2007, we had attracted a number of younger players to the OFc servers, who played in a mature enough manner to remain welcome. In recognition of this OFcLite was born, allowing our under-25 followers to become part of the clan. Along with OFc, our OFcLite member list continues to expand.
Due to it's heavy teacmwork focus, Armed Assault is becoming popular with a number of OFc members now, so it probably won't be long before you see an OFc Armed Assault server up and running!
So...This is where we stand today...A number of fantastic servers which continue to attract like-minded gamers - Enjoy!
Chances are you've already played on one of the servers and found out for yourselves what a great experience it is, and chances are you are wondering how people "join" OFc...
How do regulars become menbers?
Fortunately, there's nothing too formal about OFc...As mentioned above, there are several key principles behind us:
- Good Teamwork and Voicecomms...
This is one of the key reasons people enjoy the servers...It doesn't matter how good or bad you are...If you can follow or give orders and play as a team, you're part way there.
- Like a Laugh
Although we play with some sense, you'll soon find out we have little! Playing is for enjoyment, and we have always made this a key aspect of the OFc servers. You'll occassionally see the admins monkeying around...All in good spirits, of course, so join the fun!
- Not a Pratt
Unlike some public servers, we monitor players behaviour to some degree...Sure, have fun, but don't be a jerk!! This has been a key factor for people returning to the servers...They can have fun but know that they'll get a decent evening's gaming too.
If you fit the three principles above, you're pretty much there, especially if you've spent time in the server, and befriended the members...
OFc always like keen players who stick around. Given this, we do expect players to kick around on the servers for a good few months (at least!) before we offer them a place. That way we can informally assess whether we feel you fit the criteria above.
If you fit the priciples and have been kicking around the servers for a while, feel free to drop a post into this forum section to let us know more about you. We'll let you know the outcome in time - probably a LONG time- so please be patient. The fact you have posted means the guys will know you are interested, so just continue to enjoy the server and forum. There are a few key folk who will make the final decision, so just be patient and enjoy the servers.
If you are lucky enough not to be an old fart, we also have an OFcLite off-shoot of OFc for our younger generation - also valued members of the Rampant Rabbit OFc server.
When posting, please give us an indication of your age, and make sure you tell us if you are from Scotland... not enough people are!!
Good luck!

Re: Joining OFc, and a bit of history!
Its been a while since this was updated!
Quite a lot has happened since Fishy wrote that post. The membership of Ofc has changed a lot since then but the strong ethos and focus on teamwork, comms and fun has remained, as have some of the old schoolers, who unfortunately don't get to play as much as they used to. Real life can intrude on our gaming, which is a bit of a bitch.
The Ofc Lite experiment proved to be difficult and had to be wound down, and later some of the clan moved off to start their own gaming site. It was briefly a difficult period, but the clan rallied and developed a new management committee called the Clan Council. Council Members, in no particular order:
Bambam
NoFear
Schlack
Slartibartfast
Smithster
Megayoda
Crap
Mudshark
JackDefectorBauer
JazzyJay (sorry Jazz missed your name the first time!)
Like most councillors we're mostly in it for the power and expenses claims.
We have developed much more of an international flavour over the years with English, Scottish, Irish, Belgian, French, Dutch, Austrian, German, Israeli and even Welsh members.
Our main game since 2008 has been Counterstrike Source (with BFBC2 & L4D), however we have recently switched to CS:GO . We're currently renting one server – details of which can be found here:
Despite how busy we are we try to meet up for a Counterstrike Friday Night Special every week for beer and insults, but many of us are available most nights for a game be it CSGO, BF3, Borderlands2 or TF2. God damn steam sales have given us far too many games to play!
Sunday is a good day to get us on BF3 - log into out Teamspeak3 server to join in.
Those that contribute to the upkeep of the CSGO server (and the TS3 server to facilitate the BF3 players) get admin status on the server.
OFc has aslo moved into the real world with meetups in Leeds for Airsoft, Camping and Beer in 2009 & 2010, Glasgow and London 2011 for food and booze, and most recently in Amsterdam 2012 for.... well ... Amsterdam. And there have also been numerous smaller social occasions: London, Dublin, Thailand to name but a few!
What Fishy has written above mostly holds true, except membership doesnt take quite so long!
Play with us, post on the forum and enjoy yourself!
