Bizzarro

OK - my phone line has been AWOL since Sunday but the nice men at BT came and fixed it today except.... my ADSL only works when the phone is off the hook!

Router showing my normal stats when phone off hook - 2meg sync speed, SNR ~6 and line attenuation of 62. Hang up the phone and wham, SNR goes straight to zero and the ADSL drops. Aw fuk - well I think we will be sitting with the phone off the hook until they fix it!

Re: Bizzarro

Hmmm you might check whether there are 2 asdl filters connected on the same line.

Re: Bizzarro

OK - fixed. Guess what - the brand new ADSL filter I blagged from my work and left in place because it was "new" was a total fuck up. Dunno what was wrong with it (maybe send it to Slarty as a joke present) but if phone was not connected to filter then all was well, however if phone was plugged in then ADSL worked only when phone was off hook. Methinks it's wired wrong. Cheap shite - I wont be blagging one of them again!

Just to spice things up I decided to move my win7 install down to the bottom of my SSD and overwrite the dual boot XP that was there. Much hilarity ensued, and with the help of the Linux specialist (the wife) it only took 10 hours of toil to get my windows working again.
