Stops Slarti getting pregnant.

Sounds pretty good to me - I'm guessing it's not as good out in the boondocks of the country so Dublin/Ireland will continue as a two-speed society...

Allegedly its unlimited , thats what its advertised as but there's a fair usage policy tucked away somewhere in the fine print .I don't know why they limit you .

Peer-to-peer load balancing tends to seek out clients with the fastest internet connection (skype, bbc iplayer, spotify, or any of the torrent clients, even when you're not active) so you can serve large quantities of data into the internet unless your settings are changed to leech. The ISP throttling threshold is set so you're ok unless you seem to be the dvd movie-sharing king of the district.

Re: My new ISP

ISPs are cheapskates, they buy enough bandwidth for their idea of the average Joe Bloggs user (never complains, pays by direct debit and uses his Broadband to check his e-mail once a week). So when Slarty comes along with his insatiable need for Donkey Pr0n it sorta whacks out the load balancing somewhat. Then Joe Bloggs logs on and finds he has to wait 5 seconds for his e-mail and so he complains to the ISP. They search around for a scape goat and find.... Guess who

ISP - "You are using it too much!
Slarty "What? my unlimited broadband?"
ISP "Yes!" (They say this with hand on heart and a steely glint in their eye, totally missing the joke)
Slarty "What ya going to do about it?"
ISP "Throttle you back (Some ISPs put all the heavy users on the same crappy line so they can only upset each other)/Charge you by the gigabyte/Kick you off completely"
Slarty "Well fuk you..............BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP"
