in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\YOUR STEAM NAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
Save the config file from that folder.
Also in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\YOUR STEAM NAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\
There's your autobuy and rebuy txt files you might want to keep.

\steam\SteamApps\INSERT YOUR NAME HERE\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\autoexec.cfg
For those clever one liners.
Meanwhile your binds live in:
\steam\SteamApps\INSERT YOUR NAME HERE\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\config.cfg

and then u have the file serverbrowser.vdf in the steam\config directory. there are your favorit servers
Re: Saving your configuration on css
The main difference between the two configs above is:MudShark wrote:\steam\SteamApps\INSERT YOUR NAME HERE\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\autoexec.cfg

\steam\SteamApps\INSERT YOUR NAME HERE\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\config.cfg
AUTOEXEC.cfg is permenant. Anything you put in there will stay the same everytime you load the game (ie name Stueh for example will always set my name to Stueh). This loads AFTER the config.cfg file
CONFIG.cfg is temporary. When you go into options and change a setting there, the config.cfg is completely overwritten and is used for that instance of the game.
Settings i would put in the autoexec are:
Binds (buy,weapon use etc)
Mouse Settings (zoom_sensitivity, speed, colour, acceleration)
Net Settings (For non-ofc servers)
Any extra graphics settings (if you have low fps)
I can go through a config if you want me to

Re: Saving your configuration on css
i just want to know what files i need to backup so that when i do a reinstall of my OS and CSS i can just put the file back and all my settings will be there again

As dragon suggested save the config.cfg. This contains any changes you've made through the games options menu's.Redddraggon wrote:in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\YOUR STEAM NAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg

Would be a good idea to save your maps, materials and models folders aswell.
Or you could just save the whole counterstrike folder..reinstall steam..then swap the old and new folder.
