Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
I am running the recent version of Windows 7 RC on my Test pc, not used it much at all, but I am seriously considering buying it anyway on my Main PC from XP Pro straight over to W7. ( leap frogging Vista totally ).
I am especially interested now, as I see its being retailed at £159.99 for the Professional Edition.

Just making sure its DOES come with both 32 and 64 bit editions...

Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
Yea, but when I "started" looking to buy, ( which was about 3 weeks ago ) it was over £250, so im not that worred . I havent been testing it all that long, but since ive upgraded my PC, I really need the 64 bit OS to take full advantage... I have to say, Ive not seen it at that price anywhere... and at the same time, I probably wasnt so keen on committng that early on... so im not too worred
Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
I've got it on order from e-buyer. It was a pre-release deal.
A little bit better than ebuyer now is DABs http://www.dabs.com/learn-more/software ... -6662.html as it also seems to have free delivery. Every little helps, but I checked all my usual hardware/software sites, and it seemed to be the best now the early deals have passed.

Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
Yea, ebuyer is with free delivery too. ( as is anything over £50 )
Cheers tho.... There is some debate if that version ( the retail version ) comes with both 64 and 32 bit editions...

Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
ok forgive the dumb questions, plus i havent read the whole thread:
1. is the final version of Win 7 out yet? Still Beta?
2. Is there a consensus on whether its better than XP - When im upgrading my no smokin PC should I go with win & or just use XP.
3. Vista has leprosy?
I want to have as much memory as I can jam into my new MOBO, boo hiss XPs limit,
PC will be used mainly for gaming, Pr0n, graphics - photoslop, pr0n. perhaps some flash animation, pr0n, CSS map design and maybe a little pr0n to finish.

Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
Its being released on October 22, ebuyer and aiming to have it delivered to customers "on that date".
I dont know if its better than XP as Ive not ran W7 long enough, but its likely to be better than Vista is for sure and take more advantage of your hardware better than XP and Vista. There are some small drops in performance here and there, but on the whole, I think the pro's out weigh the conns. With all new OS' theres bound to be driver issues here and there, but I believe they will be sorted quicker than what Vista was by a long way.
Im leap-frogging Vista totally. Ive used it at work for 2 years and its shite, esp on exchange.
Some info here is helpful as its updated regularly.

Re: WINDOWS 7 PROS & CONS
Yea that makes sense.
If your asking me, I try and do the three main components together.. ( RAM, CPU and MAINBOARD ) without question. Then if possible the GFX card as well. Then opt for a new HARDDRIVE and OS later. However saying that, ive been lucky enough to do all 4, but I had to get the GFX card as I didnt have a PCI-E GFX card at all anyway. Whole lot cost me just under £400.
Just waiting for W7, which is out of my hands.
