Updating my gfx card ... need some advice ..

Does that card Gav have software contol to slow/speed up the fans matey ?

Seems like a nice card tho, would prefer the 1 gig ram tho than the 512, but its gotta be able to run quiet if possible. I wonder which custom coolers would fit that too. Which one have you fitted? I would be looking at some rather nice Zalmans. Theres even one which fits either a GPU or CPU ;)

Really torn atm about PCI-E, SLI and Crossfire... Hmmm.

The ATI CCCenter has the option to manually control the fans, yes :)

and in reply to your post back a bit, i don't intentionally run my card that hot... i have hardly any room in my case (seriously its titchy)... i have the sum total of three fans (including the cpu, excl gpu)...

im thinking about rebuilding my rig anyways (keeping the gfx though).

Can you control each fan individually? off the top of my head i cant seem to remember seeing the options for it.

All I can say is WOW! I'm loving my new graphics card, and life as a guy who has had his nuts ripped off by his missus is not as bad as people make out :wink:

My card has a specialised cooler shipped with it. It is designed by the manufacturer of the card, not ATi's reference cooler. 'Palit' is the name of the company. Read up on the reviews, and I highly recommend an aftermarket cooling solution fitted by the boards manufacturer.

Jolteh, you can disconnect the cable for the bigger fan on the card. This will leave it running 100%, and the other variable. However, you can connect that fan to a mobo controller with a little cut and paste :wink: and hey presto... 2 controllable fans. It's not a standard software supported feature (Although I did read somewhere they were planning it??). Please do not do this, unless like me, you must overclock everything you put into your case just because you can. It becomes an addiction. There is no current need for it with any game that is available today. I just like to see how far I can push things for the future. :twisted:

I now run this baby in HD at 1920*1080 and it runs CS at 250-299fps. FarCry is gorgeous, and Arma2? Well I spent the next 5 mins cleaning my screen!
