Re: Gamebooster

Used it for TF2 a while ago, it gave me about 40 extra FPS (I normally run loads of stuff in the background though)

Re: Gamebooster

I havent tried it, but in the past this sort of thing was classed as a "sort of" glorified "overclocking" if I recall. If you do try it, take notes as Gavas says, and let us know if you think it helps improve your gameplay. Gotta say, 40 fps sounds really high... even with lots of stuff running....

Re: Gamebooster

What it does, is close all the programs you're not using (you get a check list) and if you're runing windows aero turn that off too. It then stores them to a file ready to re-open when you turn Game boost mode off.
Word of caution, i've heard of this crashing people's games (TF2 specifically, but I imagine it would apply to all source games) although i've been using it with no problems. I'll get some screenshots now.

Re: Gamebooster

im always warey of downloading programs like this. It'd be safer me turning off the services manually or writing my own program. Not flaming it, but id be interested to see the results of it.

Re: Gamebooster

Ok so I thought I should run through exactly whats going on...
Hardware
AMD Athlon64x2 5000+ @2.8GHz
2GB DDR2 800mhz RAM
ATI HD 4870 1024mb
Windows 7 RC1 64bit edition

Software
I had the following programs running while gamebooster was OFF
Filezilla
HLSW
mIRC
WMP
Windows Aero

Counter Strike Source
Image
Max settings + 4xAA
gg_churches

Team Fortress 2
Image
Max settings + No AA
ctf_vikings

As you can see it made a fairly large difference to Counter Strike and a less of a difference in TF2 (although i've had better results in TF2 than that instance)
