Re: GTX 470 v HD5870
Judging from a review I've just read (in German) it seems the ATI card is slightly better in terms of computing power (apart from DirectX 11), power consumption and noise. In certain DirectX-10 benchmarks the ATI even outperforms the GTX 480.

Re: PSU
I've just replaced the stock AMD cooler with a quiet one. As far as I can tell, the PSU stays pretty quiet even under load.

Re: PSU
Nice one... :) I have read some of the reviews on those. Does it remain at the same noise level under load or does it stay the same regardless? As far as I can tell, yes. Problem is, the CPU fan starts howling like a lonely wolf under load (it's the fan that came with the AMD CPU). Gonna replace it...

Re: PSU
Just got a new PSU today, a "be quiet! 530W dark power", and I'm extremely happy with it - fuckin silent it is, in particular compared to the Coolermaster PSU I had before. I actually noticed the CPU fan spinning up and down for the first time ever.
Re: TF2
I've just rediscovered my love for TF2 recently. Maybe we should give it a try someday next week?

Re: Nvidia driver 196.75 frying your graphics card?
My guess is the problem occurs only with certain Nvidia cards. Judging on base of the Nvidia forums the 9800GT is a good candidate for roasting.

Nvidia driver 196.75 frying your graphics card?
Seems there's a problem with Nvidia's latest driver 196.75. Your graphics card may overheat: http://www.incgamers.com/News/21293/nvidia-19675-kills-video-cards We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and r...
